Side Badge Removal ?
 

Anyone have comments on removing the side badges?

Have you done it?

Do you like the change?

Were there hassles involved (like accidental paint damage)?

Do you think it devalues the car not having it bone stock?

All informative comments welcome!

Before I do this semi-permanent change, I want to check with the experts on this forum.

I've read many posts over the last few months from people claiming the S 2000 logo is very tough to remove.Some people joke the glue must be made by NASA,because of comments like that I'm affraid to mess with them on my car.

Have you done it? - Yes it was the first change I made (over 2 years ago).
Do you like the change? - Yes, but it is a matter of taste. I think it's cleaner looking.
Were there hassles involved? - If you're worried about paint damage and such, first mask off the emblem area. Then, with dental floss "cut" the emblem away from the body. You will actually be cutting the emblem off its glue base. When the emblem is gone, you can work on the glue. Search here, but people have used WD-40, Isopropyl alcohol (97% - not the other kind), and other type solvents. This is more a pain in the a** than anything else, but it isn't hard. If the car is new there won't even be a shadow where the emblem was.
Do you think it devalues the car not having it bone stock? - No. You can always buy a black chrome set and put this on later if you feel the need.

Mask off the area
use some dental floss to remove the badges
spray a ton of WD40 on the residue
repeat
repeat
repeat
repeat
repeat
(keep spraying the WD40 on there at five minute intervals for a half hour or so)
roll the gummy stuff off with your fingers tips NOT your nails
DONE

Let me know how it works out becuase I am going to try to do the same.

For some reason, the emblem on the driver side slants rather than line up straight as on my passenger side and other S2K's....how did that happen????

Is is not that hard and looks much cleaner without them. They are a little tacky looking on car to me. I seriously doubt that if you went to trade in that it would be noticed. I still have mine and should be able to reinstall if necessary.

Got a issue, was buffing my car the other day. And my buffer knocked off my drivers side s2000 emblem. Decided id just leave it off.. but I had some remaining glue. I've tried boiling water. Wd40, and goo gone with no difference. This stuff is hard as a rock. Need help.

I used a heat gun to soften the glue and rolled it off with my finger. used goo gone only to remove the very minor stuff at the end.
BTW use the heat gun very sparingly, you don't want to bubble your clear.

Done it, and I think it makes the car look sharper. Getting the badges off was no issue, but as mentioned the glue can be a pain. Heating it up first will help, but it's going to take alot of elbow grease and isopropyl alcohol (getting some goof off for cars, available at auto stores, will help) to get it off. Just be patient with it.

Getting the Honda emblems off are easy. I did that as well, replacing them with the S badges. Sharp looking too!
