sixth gear crusing rpm's are too high imo
could someone explain to me why the s is geared so high in 6th gear. i was in my friend's rsx-s today and he's at around 2800-2900 at 60. mine is around 3200-3300 or so...his car has less torque, smaller motor...i just don't understand why they'd gear the overdrive so high...it would save a bit on gas and i'm sure the s could handle a lower gearing without any problems.
i guess i'm just jealous of the t-56's with their .60 overdrive...getting 28mpg in an engine over double the size.

My guess is that the current gears are set up for maximum utilization of the f20c's narrow power band. If the s2000's 6th gear was .60, there would be a giant gap after shifting from 5th to 6th before the vtec engages.
The RSX is a sporty economy car and the S2k is a sports car?
I think the previous generation Integra Type Rs had a shorter cruising gear than the s2k does (yes its only a 5speed but still, in a 5speed the fifth gear is generally for cruising like the sixth is in a six speed but when manufacturers really want to jazz a car up they generally do stuff like short gearing and better suspensions etc)
edit: also, maybe honda expects more people to put an s2000 on an actual race course than an RSX, and that being the case they realize that said s2000 owners will need to be able to accelerate at high speeds.

higher ratios = lower gear

This car was built for the inner race car driver in people, if your inner race car driver is sitting in a go-cart maybe this isn't the car for you.
Just giving you crap. I actually like it the way is right now, and I'll like it more after a 4.57 gear swap. I wanted sports car that was less about comfort and more about performance so I bought the s2000.
