Small Slice in Top - Need Repair Suggestions

Hi,

I just got a used MY04 S2000 last week. Really loving it, the only bummer is that it has a one inch slice (or a little less) in the back corner of the top. What are the repair options for this?

Is the 04 top vinyl or cloth?

Any idea what could have caused this? Does not look like vandalism.

Thanks much.

:rev: There was a small tear in my '01 top when I bought it about a year ago. I simply used some black silicone for a quick fix. It's not the cleanest look but it's flexible and had worked for nearly a year now with no leaking.

You can seal it from the inside to hid the mess :rev:

I put a bead on the outside first then :rev: and put it on the inner part :drunk:

Why don't you try to get it covered under warranty?

Warranty coverage is my goal. However, if it cannot be shown the damage is related to the vehicle or defect, then I will be on my own. Seeking my other options now because I don't want the tear to grow.

Call American Honda and inform them you have a defect in your top that has caused a hole. They'll act like they've never heard of this problem. They will then tell you to take it to the dealer. If the dealer turns you down, call American Honda and explain the situation to them. I don't think you should get any static with it being a new car. My appeal took about a week and I got a brand new top under warranty for my MY01. Good luck and here's a thread with some good infor and phone numbers.

worst case take it to a shop get it done professionaly. in the scheem of things a small cost. whatever happens the fix must last all while you have the car.
