i was considering the boxster before purchasing the s2k and my criteria was strictly performance (luxury to be had later in life
) i was looking at a handful of roadsters strictly by mech specs, then a test drive. the only weighting i gave to brand name was reliability, that's it. to me, it made absolutely no sense to buy the boxster, which weighed slightly more, had less power AND costs an additional ~6000USD. then i thought "ok... maybe the 6000 went into the handling"
. riiiiiight. the S just felt way more rigid and connected. then i came to the conclusion that if i ever got a porsche, the minimum would be a 911. i see the boxster as porsche's attempt to get their piece of pie the "lower-end" market, that's it.

I am buying a new house at the same time as buying a new car, so costs were a consideration. The S2000 works out cheaper all round except insurance, which has actually increased. The main factor in my decision was the desire for change and more of a performance car rather than a prestige car. The gear box is superb, give it some respect and warm it up and you are laughing.
The VX220 is really quick, even more raw than the S2000, can't get in the bloody thing though! He has actually sold it today to a guy who weighs about 250 pounds!!!
I took the car to the cost over the weekend and it felt like they have softened the suspension slightly in the '04 model and the long journey felt more comfortable than the '01 model (my friend had one, now written off).
If I went back to Porsche it would be for a 911...
