Some guy in his huge 2025 Ford Bronco backed into my S2 today. Would like some advice on how to proceed.
I got his insurance information, and filed a claim under his policy on the spot with him present. I have never had an accident before, and never expected it either so this really caught me off guard. I should have probably called the police to get an official report, but I did get photos of the damages and video footage from the restaurant I was parked outside of.
I will attach some photos of the damage.
What is the best way to fix the damage? I assume it will never be as good as original...
Fairly large dent with a scrape starting on the front left quarter panel. With either rubber marks or scrapes from the tire of the Bronco.
Just as I was planning on getting this thing in good shape with a new soft top ;(
Well, as far as repairing the damage, it might be possible to get a paintless dent outfit to get that to a reasonable fix. The better people in that business can do amazing things and it does not look like the metal is creased.
Repainting can be problematic as far as painting over VIN labels can go. Some high end touch up paint shops (not the ones from standard collision repair places) can also work their magic. Check around for where the Ferrari people go.
I would file a police report asap, in my experience most insurance companies require it, you usually also have a limited amount of time after an accident to file it. I agree with the second post also about using PDR, some of them can do amazing work, that would be my first choice.
Why are you dealing with his insurance company? It's your insurance company's job to repair your car. They'll get repaid from his. Ain't your job to chase this. Your insurance should get the job done right -- they don't care what it costs as they're not paying for it.
Red paint fades worse than any color I can think of and it's evident in your photos -- see the pink mirror -- so it may be hard to blend and match on different surfaces (another reason to only deal with your insurance). Looks like damage is confined to the door skin? Our cars are so small they're hard to see especially when backing.

May seem weird to you, but different states have different rules on insurance claims.

Agree with this for sure, file with your insurance and let them handle it all, its what you pay them for.
With before and after pictures, especially if it a PDR fix, not too much if at all. The VINS will all be there and when someone sees the dent and nothing else, without a complete paint respray, they should be not concerned. It does not affect anything mechanical or drivability.
