It seems like its almost impossible to get it in reverse. Theres no grinding or anything it's just very hard to get it in reverse. Is this normal, or is something wrong?

Not having a problem getting it over to reverse, just getting it down in reverse.

 

I don't know if this is your first 6 speed or not, but here is a better clarification of what "pushing down" means. Here is a few steps to get it in reverse;

1. Move gear all the way to the right.
2. Push down/in(pushing it towards the ground) on the knob.
3. Put it in reverse.

This is one of a few things some of us first time owners didn't know, so it is a common mistake. I myself was not aware that you had to push the knob down first than put it in reverse. Hope this helps.

 

This is not a typical 6spd, actually this feature/nuisance was not on my RSX Type S and TSX both having 6spds. I am sure Honda put it in the S for a reason. It took me several tries to get it right when I was test driving the S.

 

I've seen a few of 6spds with that type of reverse look out safety feature. I've never had any problems with it not going into reverse.
Try putting it in first gear for a sec just before you try to go into reverse.

 

I thought you push the shifter down before you move it to the side? Correct me if im wrong.

 

Sometimes, after a slow roll, you need to double clutch to get the reverse gear to engage, even if you are pushing down. It's a protective feature inside the tranny that completely locks out reverse. This occurs MOSTLY during extremely slow driving (ie parking.)
