Default Spare engine transport

Just wondering if I am the only one to do it like this
Fits perfect with the passenger seat removed and easy to hoist in with the top down

They don't have any corners where you live? : )

Seriously, how do you protect the door and console from shifting engine weight?

Not to mention you're certainly far exceeding the cars rated total passenger and cargo weight! I imagine though you only went a short distance. But its a good reminder to anyone thinking about doing this.

Over here, we would just rent a pickup truck from Home Depot for like $30. But I imagine you don't have options like that over there.

Damn, that is a perfect fit. I once put my S2000 engine in the back of my Ford Explorer and I thought that was a tight fit, and it weighed the suspension down a bit on an 800 mile trip. Nice packing work on this one

To get the engine in tight, I used lots of wooden planks and beams to stabilize it around the bottom, and a ratchet tie-down strap wrapped around the engine and attached to the the rear seat mount bolt holes. After that I could not get the engine to move by hand in any direction
I don't think the total weight has been more than what two really big guys + a loaded trunk would be. Surely Honda designed the car to cope with that? I mean, you can even (sort of easily) pick up and move the engine by hand with two people.
But yes renting a truck or something is the better way (with safety being the biggest improvement in my eyes). Here in the Netherlands that would be about 4x as expensive. But like you 'guessed', we have almost no corners here while traveling long distance, just endless km's of silky smooth highway
I drove today like this for about 200km, went fine, the car was quite slow though ha.

You would think that, but nope. One average man and average woman, and one small suitcase is about right at the limit. I am quite certain you've exceeded the cars weight limit by a fair bit. But I doubt there was any harm.

If you had any problems with the car... you at least had a spare engine

Seriously though, I wouldn't do that to my seats.

You must really love your S2K to transport a motor in it?

What did could he have done to the seats? Passenger seat is sitting in his garage.

The guy above me is right, seat was removed as I said in the OP.

As for exceeding the weight limit, that was correct too, it's only 500lbs max? For it to be that low, I am suspecting they were trying to preserve handling characteristics and the like. Can't imagine the chassis not being able to take 500lbs, with its "high x-bone frame" and all.
But oh well you learn something new everyday. The car is still fine though. And maybe the pretty substantial amount of weight reduction I have done to the car, and the uprated suspension/wheels/tires have played a role too
