spare key programing cost?
You need to do it at the Honda dealership. They cut and program the immobilizer for you. I noticed that the price depended upon the dealer, so you should call around and ask. I think it was like 25 bucks for a new key, cut, and program.
i read somewhere forgot where but ucan program the immobilizer without a scan tool .. just have to do some steps
immoblizer is a chip in ur key.. that sends a signal to start ur car.. if u make a key and dont have a immobizer chip in it and program.. the car will just crank and not start.. depends on how well the system is.. some cars u can put a programed immobilzer key next to the key hole and start it with a non program key..
toyotas u cant cuz once u put the key in
theres a ring around the key hole that reads the signal and it has to be in the right place to read it

Just go to the Honda dealer. The antenna for the immobilizer chip is around the keyhole (apparently, that's why there is no lighting for the key hole as I recall). The immobilizer chip is embedded in the key itself. It needs to be programmed to match the car.

The key code stored in each of your keys is recognized by the ECU.
I have searched for the procedure on how to introducing a new key to the ECU but have been unable to find it. Maybe someone else will have better luck and post the DIY for the procedure.
If I remember correctly, the ECU can remember up to 6 keys. Seems like it was a short procedure of just a few min. for the "introduction". Like a previous poster noted, you need a working key.
