Special lift needed?

Special lift needed?
when my wife bought her s2k 16 yrs ago, the dealer told her that you need a special lift to change tires, etc and that you have to go to the dealer or places that have these "special lifts". is this true or is there something special about s2k that the shop needs to have special lifts?

Wow, how sleazy. That's utter BS. If I'm being charitable, the only thing I can think of is that it's a very low to the ground car and some hydraulic jacks you'd have at home wouldn't fit.
No special lift needed - but make sure you use the right jack points.
Like many cars, there are pinch seams that look like jack points but are not.

Stealerships are not known for their integrity. Their greed and sleezy tactics seem to know no bounds.
This is uterly untrue. Will the S2000 fit on every lift or any alignment machine ever made? Of course not. Like any sportscar, its a bit lower than a typical sedan, and certainly an SUV. But every shop that does tires or otherwise uses lifts knows that sportscars are lower than other cars.
I have never had any issue with my stock ride height S with factory front lip being serviced any place I've ever gone. Its never even been a question.

How has your wife been buying tires the past 16 years, at the Honda dealer? Low is right. Few jacks will fit under my stock height car.
Jack points are critical. They're noted in the Owners Manual -- of all places; who'd think to look there?

Theres not special lift needed to work on s2000's however, they do not fit over center post in ground lifts. My S is bone stock ride height and it only fits on 2 posts above ground or in ground lifts, I have yet to try a scissor lift but would guess it may have the same issues as the center post. That being said, my shop came with 6 center posts already built into the ground but prior to that I had never seen one so I cant imagine those type of lifts being very common

I have to agree with all of the posters above. Wheel Works has never had a single issue repairing or replacing wheels on my S2000. I've never taken my car to the dealer for tires, and it doesn't appear that the Wheel Works has anything out of the ordinary when it comes to their lifts.
