Spoon MODs to be done

im thinking really serious about making my car looks almost like the spoon s2000

this is the mod list...

exterior
1-paint job to be done at some pro shop (if anyone got the paint code please pass it on)
2-stickers
3-mugen hardtop (i know that the original has the OEM hardtop...but it aint my cup of tea
4-mugen wing (its on the other s2k saw it the other day on some racing track)
5-advan or volks bronze rims..
6-black grills

interior
1-2 carbon kevler seats
2-titanum shift knob
3-rollcage (most prolly)
4-MOMO racing steering wheel

spoon calipers and rotors
endless N1 pads
yokohama advan tires

now i would take other suggestions from u people...

just keep this in mind...what would be ur reaction...if ur driving minding ur bussnise and some track car look alike is on your right...looks at you....gear x and takes off..??

yep i know

waiting for your comments

thanks in advance

GT-S2000 05-13-2003 04:10 PM

good luck and keep us updated on the progress . . . IMO though, forget the stickers

YoOSHi 187 05-13-2003 04:13 PM

i think the stickers would make it look even more wierd on the road...u know what i mean ? the car would look like it took the wrong exit or someone stole it of the track...lol

AndyP 05-13-2003 04:23 PM

I'd say go with all the stickers...why not? :thinker: If it's to have that extreme of a paint job, go all out and plaster those Spoon and other stickers to make it look like the real thing. for the W:eek2:W factor because the Spoon car is the
S H I Z Z L E!! :rev:

YoOSHi 187 05-13-2003 04:31 PM

its kind of hard to get a sponser ship in this country
its some kind of see-and-pick kind of sponser ship...they would stop u in the middle of the traffic and get ur number and call u later on the day... so with this kind of "extreme looks" on my car i would assure getting a sponser ship within few days...

:D
pray that i can get this quick...after i get all my hookups i'll prolly get the paint job done then the rest of the interior and drivetrain hookups done...

speed4tu 05-13-2003 07:16 PM

Don't forget about the internals for the engine so it will turn 12,000 RPM's. Only $9k or so I think.:p :) :p
Seriously tho, I think it will look sweet, I also say go with all the stickers also.

Siper2 05-13-2003 08:11 PM

Here's what I say:

If you have the kind of cash it'll take to buy all that stuff, my hat's off to you. Put your stickers on your forehead for all I care. :D

Sounds like a good project! I'm a mostly-stickerless kind of guy personally, but hey...

north9586 05-13-2003 08:13 PM

The Spoon S2000 has the J's Racing GT Wing, with an ADVAN sticker. You can get a J's racing GT wing FROM JACKIE He's selling his and it looks very hot, race, and straight from the track! Other than that keep us posted and I can't wait to see it! Go with the paint job and stickers

~Andrew

I'm a spoon lover myself so I can't wait to see it!

YoOSHi 187 05-14-2003 04:24 AM

anybody can help me with these ?

1-paint code
2-advan rims (where can i get them)
3-ride height ?

north9586 05-14-2003 05:31 AM

.....I can help you get the right wing! :D And there was an article quite some time ago in Road & Track? That tested a stock S2000, the Spoon S2000, and a Supercharged S2000, that may have had it, but I don't know how you would find that article, do some searching here, on Road & Track or just ask around I'm sure at least ONE of the members on this board is a collector of it.

Also, what do you think of the wing?

~Andrew

YoOSHi 187 05-14-2003 05:46 AM

the wing is nice and all...but dont u think the mugen is sleeker ?

i know that one is aggrisive and all...but tell me what u think ?

north9586 05-14-2003 05:57 AM

Well....I didn't think you were going for sleeker. IMO the mugen is sleeker, but the J's is far more race and track. I don't know about the mugen, but the J's has many settings to adjust to. Also, the J's is the actual wing used on the Spoon S2000 and if you want to replicate that car, this wing will do it best. And finally, I've generally seen Mugen and Spoon as rivals....and that it might be weird to mix their parts? Don't get me wrong if that's what you want to do with the car go for it! I'm going to be mixing Sparco and MOMO which is about the same situation, but I prefer MOMO accessories, but the Sparco seats, so that's what I'm going to do because it's my car and it will make me happy. ANYWAY!! I think the J's would look alot better for the effect you are going for it definately has that WOW factor. If you have anymore ideas or questions lemme know and I'll tell ya, I've seen the wing many times and was going to buy it a while ago myself (before he wanted to sell  ), but now I'm going in a different direction with the car :). Good luck! Still can't wait to see it!

~Andrew

P.S. Even though Mugen and Spoon don't go together IMO, I say DEFINATELY get the Mugen hardtop :D!

Uber-s2k 05-14-2003 06:28 AM

*No official data to back this statement but.....
I believe that Mugen is one of the only companies that for any aero parts, go through extensive wind tunnel analysis. Hence why their body kits are expensive as hell, wind tunnel time is typically $1k/hour. They wasted $20k on our rear diffuser, did not like results, and started over from scratch. That being said I might argue that the Mugen wing IMO is more prone to produce the effects wanted in track purposes. Does J's do wind tunnel testing?
Thank you,
Steve
*edit G-luck building the car, I LOVE the Spoon paint job

Chitrod 05-14-2003 09:37 AM

For someone like me that doesn't know what excatly does the spoon car look like?

Uber-s2k 05-14-2003 11:42 AM

Linky : http://www.inlinefour.com/spoongallery.html : Should help, I like the blue/yellow combo so much.....I painted my RS4 micro RC car-NSX, in the same style. It looks so sweet :)
Steve

north9586 05-14-2003 12:05 PM

  about the paint job on the NSX, that sounds cool. As far as the wind tunneling, etc., I have no idea, but if it's good enough for Spoon to use on their track car, it's good enough for me :) Is the Mugen adjustable?

Also, YoOSHI 187, are you looking at wings based on their cosmetic or functional abilities? IMO the J's LOOKS more race and track and I just all around like the wing.

~Andrew

north9586 05-14-2003 12:06 PM

Well I'll be a monkey's bare-assed uncle.....those Spoon S2000's have no wing at all! :yikes:

the one further down does

YoOSHi 187 05-14-2003 12:56 PM

i think there's more than two out there...there's the spoon with mugen mods...hood, wing and front bumper..
the normal one with the j's racing wing
and the stock one

:)

Gunshow 05-14-2003 01:39 PM

You should really research all the exact parts and change them according to what you want different. The rims that Spoon is running is the Work Emotions. That's what is on their track one that has graced many magazines. Personally I would try it, but on an EK, just too afraid to track out an S. Good luck, it will look nice if done correctly.

DVDoughboy 05-14-2003 04:23 PM

I've heard that in order to have a functioning Mugen SS wing, you must have the Mugen hardtop.

Anyway, I hope you get this project completed. It would be nice to see.

And in my opinion, the Spoon car with the Mugen aerokit looks the best.

motobetty 05-14-2003 04:32 PM

I have to chime in . . stickers look LAME. S2Ks are so nice when its clean and sleeping.

I am interested in what wing you are going to end up with. As for the other parts, sounds good.

Looking forward to hearing about your end results with the project.

Good luck!

VeilsideAP1 05-14-2003 04:40 PM

Also, look at Type One's page... They are a division on Spoon ( Prez's son) and do the service for both shops... they also store all the track cars... look at the spoon site in japanese, and you will see the link... not availible in english yet...

VeilsideAP1 05-14-2003 04:41 PM

Spoon produces the C-west cars and several other companies track cars. There are so many variants it's not even funny. There is one with the Mugen SS kit, but that kit costs around 9 Gs. Some have internal work, some don't... I am actually doing the same thing, so good luck to you sir! FYI, the only engine that revs to 11 K is the crate engine.... Retail is just under 10G, not including shipping and installation.... :) That one is on my list of "things to do"... If all goes well I'll have it by the end of the year... I can find out the paint codes for you shortly...

YoOSHi 187 05-14-2003 08:43 PM

i would appreciate that 2003spa....

what is that engine ur talking about and where do u get it from...more details and ill wait patinently for the codes

thx

Hey I went that route too but in the process have changed it up a bit because I have found other parts that I want as well. I just bought the Spoon carbon kevlar race seats with rails and Takata harnesses. I have other Spoon parts as well. Its not cheap let me tell you.:(
Let me know what you want and or need and I can see what kinda hook up I can get ya.
Good luck and btw if your going to copy the spoon car do everything.

YoOSHi 187 05-17-2003 10:56 PM

JFY.....

i heared that after installing the short shifter...the gear places change...i think it gets lower or something like that since its made for right hand driving...is there any shortshifter for left hand driving ?

Xplosiv 05-17-2003 11:08 PM

I had it on my old S, i didnt like it

The shifter is a bit lower, throw is shorter, but the gears feel ALOT closer. Oh yeah, all the hoop-la about the stick leaning towards the right when in neutral, and being for right-hand drive; just install it so that the lean is towards you (the driver). Voila! I love it.

Just keep this in mind... what would be your reaction if you're driving along in your track look-alike, and you look over to your left at a guy in a stock-looking S2000, then you downshift and try to take off... but instead, the guy on your left downshifts and leaves you behind. Because that guy spent his $$$ on go-fast parts instead of look-fast parts.

If you make your car look like the Spoon Sports S2000, you're going to find a lot of people that want to race you, just to see what it's made of. It'll be pretty embarrassing to get beat by a guy in a relatively stock S2000, or worse yet have to turn away from the race because you know you can't win.

That's cool if you are just into the looks, but if you can afford all of these appearance mods, I'd hope that you would at least put a little money into engine mods to make the car a little quicker than average. Just my $0.02.
