Default Starting After Storage

Is there a way to start the S2000 without it firing after a prolonged winter storage?

Pull the spark plugs. This also reduces the initial compression pressure. Crank until the oil pressure symbol's light goes off.

Good luck!

How long has it been stored?

If we are talking years, then as above, building up oil pressure is a good thing before actually running the engine.

If we are just talking over the winter period, it's a modern engine with modern oil, (Plus it's a Honda), so I'd just run her up. (Mine sits for 4-5 months over winter on a trickle charger) Gets fired up, then I drop the oil and she good for the summer.

Yeah, I wouldn't pull plugs every year. More could go wrong vs tiny benefit. Sure,if it was unusually long rest, why not. But not routine storage.

Pull fuel pump fuse is a lot easier. No possible harm. But even that is usually overkill. Just start it.

Wrong question?

You can certainly crank the engine but you need those items in place to start it.

The spark plugs are only being pulled before the first start.

I don't understand. If someone's process to take car out of winter storage is remove plugs, and if winter is a yearly occurrence, implies plugs removed yearly.

That doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Okay, I guess. I was removing plugs once a week while racing dirt bikes and autocrossing.

I remove the fuel pump fuse and crank the vehicle over - WITHOUT the clutch pressed- until the oil light goes out. I also have installed a clutch interlock bypass so my car is no longer idiot proof.

I remove the fuel pump fuse. No need to complicate it too much.
