stock and k&n intake question

I just wonder that the the knN and the Stock intakes are same.

If i just take out the top of airbox and replace the filter for KnN, is it same?

I see those positioned at same spot, so i do not see the point of changing the whole pipe..

Just wonder..

The K&N intake seals better against the underside of the hood and therefore helps to eliminate "heat soak". I've taken my airbox lid off and, although it sounds awesome, I get hesitation (heat soak) when I first accelerate.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...7b8bec4485.jpg

Word of caution: K&Ns have been proven to pass alot more dirt than paper or synthetic elements, and they can also coat your intake tract with oil

Yes, if you have a K&N filter on a stock intake, they are exactly the same. For all the money you spend on a K&N intake, you get more noise since the OEM box is thick plastic and the K&N is thin metal that doesn't seal 100% like the stock box. No big deal, but imo, the K&N intake is way overpriced.

 You should start a third thread on the same topic, just in case.

K&N seals against the hood pretty well, gives you better sound over stock. looks nice and cleans up the engine bay.

Actually, that piece of metal with S2000 cleans up the engine bay - where did you get that?

Got it from a guy before he sold his... have no idea where he got it from...

I've seen tests on this and I don't know how true your statement is. THe tests I've seen are all inconclusive. I have the K&N filter and I've disconnected the intake (After 3000 miles) at the throttle body and wiped the inside with a white paper rag. There was no buildup of oil or dirt.

I believe people cold possible get oil if they dumped the oil in the recharger kit all over the filter but the instructions specifically say use sparingly.

so is the k&N drop in filter going to make any difference? I was thinking about getting one when my paper one needs changed
