Interesting question. The last winter I was stored I didn't change the oil before storing, but did an oil change first thing after the winter. I also kept a FULL tank of gas in there...

My 2007 is stored away now with under 1,500 kilometres....still not due for 1st oil change. Planning to start the engine every few weeks during winter and possibly drive around block if weather permits. Good idea to have a full tank of gas. Have a car cover over it. Bought a trickle charger/maintainer...will use it later in the winter as battery is still new. Dealer advised to remove one cable from battery to prevent it from discharging.

Oil is cheap. I'd change it.

Acids build up in the oil from running an engine. I always change mine before I store it so that I get rid of the acids.

Store it with a full tank of gas to prevent condensation in the fuel tank.

Once I park it, I don't start it until spring. Been storing cars/bikes since 1979 and have never had a problem.

I'd change it. All those impurities in the oil can do damage over a long winter. Conedodger is right: Oil is cheap.

Fungi, starting it up every few weeks and driving it is a bad idea.
read the winter storage guide in the FAQ section of under the hood, there is a complete guide there.

Why is starting it and driving it a bad idea? Driving the car is a good thing I would think. It charges the battery, lubricates the engine etc. Drive it a good hour or so.

One cold start in the spring is better than one or two a month. When your car sits, all of the oil will eventually fall to the pan... leaving your engine un-lubricated. Many people have different opinions on this but I think it makes sense.

Yes oil is cheap guy.........but like I said, I have only less than 1,500 Klm on my 2007 S2K and when I phoneed my dealer, they said to wait till the indicator shows about 15% before I should change the oil....right now it is showing 90%. I don't know if those of you with older S2K have the same type of oil indicator, telling you when you should change your oil. I would think that my dealer would like to change my oil and make that money, but they told me the oil is still okay. In this case I would not argue with them.
