Amuse now has the Carbon Fibre Hood,
very expensive dry carbon type.
I do not know what others JS, Mugen would weigh but I nearly passed out that it only weighes stunning,
2.4 kg normal
3.2 kg for racing spec tie down type.
Of course you will pay accordingly for getting the best of of the best.
Approximate price $3000!

If you want the best contact Mr Giampiero at MG Racing.

1Randyc, dig the carbon hood, but a little out of my price range for parts. Are those the gen III Rx7 wheels on that blue s2k?

For those of you who might be interested in a carbon fiber hood for their S2000, I am currently having one being fabricated by a company based in California. This hood will be a direct replacement without any hood scoops. A rough estimate price is around $600-$650 shipped to your door. Email me at CarbonFiberHood@aol.com to reserve for one in advance. Thanks

Does anyone else worry about the hood scoops? Would anything happen if it rained and water went into the engine through the hood scoops? This hood definitely look nice though.

Sam, do you have any weight specs on your hood?

Why is there such a big difference in pricing? $3000 vs. $650, what are the differences in build quality between all of the available carbon fiber hoods?

I am no expert or good deal of know how on carbon fiber stuff but all I know is that the dry kind is the most expensive type of carbon fiber. Same as my Mugen intake which probably is why it cost around $1200-1500, it is light as a feather.
Check out the weight 2.4 kg, anyone know this in exactly in pound?
But that is pretty stunning how light it is.
You have no business of letting your stook take the shower but the way the inlet is positioned forward, I do not see much problem of water hitting the vital engine bay.

2.4 kg x 2.2 lbs per kg = 5.3 lbs

Very light indeed!

Price range between $600-$650 is reasonable considering this hood is made in the states where we do not have to pay for the overseas shipping, custom charges, and other related charges.

Estimate weight of this carbon fiber hood is approx. 13lbs

If anyone care to see the quality of the carbon fiber that this company uses, you can goto our website at www.fiberimages.com to view samples of other applications available. I am a distributor for FiberImages and I can offer board member discounts on our products.

Sam,
The hood is pretty light already.
How about CF trunk lid or doors.

Yes the stock hood on the stook is already quite light but I think the majority of the buyers would purchase the carbon fiber hood more for an exotic look(difference of opinions of course) than wanting to lose a couple of lbs.

I'm glad I, well, the Stook, lost 18 lbs when I went to the Mugen catback.
