Ok i have read that you need to check your oil at every stop for Gas. here are my questions
1) if the oil level reading is from L - H, when do you add oil? As soon as you see it drop from its original (the day i get it)?
2) If adding oil, do you just put in 10w30 non synthec?
Andre

Congratulations and good luck with a great purchase! I'll answer these 2 questions the best I can. First, do check your oil at every gas fill up. I wouldn't start putting oil in the car until you start to see the line go down. I would say 1/4 the way down from full I might add a little oil. Some people here have posted complaints about the oil being terribly low after only several hundred miles. However, if your dealer fills up the oil properly you shouldn't have a worry some time. Also, if by chance you do need to add oil you should put in a high quality 10W30 oil like Castrol GTX. Although, that's a decision you can make. Hope this was helpful!

Welcome aboard Andre!

Concerning the oil...
1. Check it without fail at every gas fill up
2. Add only Honda replacement 10W30 (Mobil 1)
3. If you want to go synthetic, just wait until 5,000 miles. If you do it before that, you may experience problems with the rings seating. The FRM in the cylinder walls is quite slippery (part ceramic).

Yes, check at every fill up. I have heard of owners getting different readings on their dip stick. Sometimes the oil level is hard to see and also has not settled completely to get an accurate reading. Make sure the stick is all the way in. I rarely check when getting gas except when on a trip, but I do check it often before starting up in the morning. I would not have any problem adding oil until the oil level is at least half way down to the add mark. Ask your dealer to top it up for you the first time. Do not mix synthetic oil with your break in oil. Try not to add any oil to the break in oil. There is no need to get your revs 'way up either (don't VTEC until recommended mileage is reached).

I'm betting you will not have to add oil until you change it the first time!

Congrats Andre! Don't be surprised if you consume NO oil during the first 600 miles. Watch it very closely once you start VTECing. Mine used none from 0 - 600, used a quart from 600 - 1,000 miles, and about another quart from 1,000 - 2,000. It has not used a drop since 2000 and I'm at 3,800 now. I added 10/30 natural oil when needed. I plan to go synthetic at 6,000.

Have Fun!!

I have 24,000 miles on my car...and it is now just starting not to drink oil.

Or maybe because I have toned down the way I am driving?

Hmmmm....

I have always heard it was better to check the oil after the car has been sitting for several hours, rather than at the station just after stopping. This gives the most accurate reading, I would think.

Congratulations on the imminent purchase Andre. You do know where the dipstick is, right? .

As part of the pre-delivery inspection, have the salesman show you where the dipstick (and gas tank release, spare tire, tools, and "secret compartment") are located - if he knows, that is . After that, check oil level regularly. I usually do that in the morning before I head off to work. That way, I know that the car is sitting level and all of the oil has drained down into the crankcase. Also, while driving sometimes oil splashes up onto the dipstick tube and confounds the reading. If the car sits for a while, this errant oil drips off the tube and doesn't cause errors in reading the dipstick.

Hey C3, the factory oil is Mobil 1, just not synthetic...you'll find it at the dealer marketed as Honda oil.
