Taking fast turns in S2K?
Well, I'll be the first to admit that I am not as good of a driver as I thought. Unfortunately, my rides were modest cars (99 CIVIC, 97 ECLIPSE, 94 PROBE) until I got my S2k. Since this is the first rear wheel drive car I have driven, I am having problems keeping control in fast turns. Can someone give me a "Taking Turns Fast 101" I'd like to know how much/little gas to give, braking when/how much, and steering.

What you should do is go to a track day. Here in MD you can to go to Summit point in WV ( a 2+ mile road course). For $175 you get 4 20min sessions on the track with an instructor in the passenger seat. You also get 3 classroom sessions. Quite a deal.
On track, they use cones to mark breaking and turn in points.
You will leave a better driver.
$175 is less than your insurance deductible, which you will pay, should you insist on being self-taught.
layton,
This is also my first rear wheel drive and my first manual tranny car...
Making turns at fast speeds was a bit more complex than making turns at high speeds with a front wheel drive automatic tranny sedan...
I learned that it is better to come into the turn slow and exit fast, than enter the corner fast, mess up...and exit the corner slow. Here are some pointers I picked up...
1. Slow down and downshift before the corner...
2. Your driving line is very important
3. While taking the corner, you should be giving the car gas...give it just enough gas that you are going fast enough to take the turn without loosing control of the rear end...

Wuzzup DERRYCK! I haven't been to D&B in a while. What color is your S2k. I've only seen 3 so far here on the road (1 yellow, 2 silver) Maybe we can hook up some time and ride out. e-mail me lnerozzi@coj.net (work) lnerozzi@mediaone.net (home)
My S is black on black and will soon be turbocharged. I don't see many around here either, I sometimes see a yellow one in OP but that's about it. I traded a 99 GS-T (pretty heavily modded) in on my S and miss the boost. I can't beat down the C5's right now like I could in the Eclipse. Anyway, feel free to e-mail me and we'll definitely have to get together. (dzimmerman@dtr-software.com).
