Test Pipe
I really want to purchase a T1R Sparrow with testpipe because the gains for a sparrow without the testpipe are close to 0... But i am worried because I live in southern california and the test pipe might be an issue...
Has anyone here gotten caught for a testpipe or if they know ways to avoid getting pulled over? -thanks |
I say don't risk it if you live in cali.....

$2500 .00 fine.!!
Is it no biggie for you??? |
Maybe you should post this in the Cali forum for better responses, but at least with the T1R testpipe you can put the stock cat heat shields over it to make it look like a converter.

Nope, don't run a test pipe in California, unless you only run it for off road events, and then put the cat back on to drive it home. There are some states that have no emissions inspections, and have no car inspections of any kind. These are the only states where it is fairly safe to drive regularly on the roads with a test pipe.
Thanks, Richard |
I live in Cali and am currently running the Berk Test pipe without any problems from the police. As long as you are not bringing any attention to yourself (i.e. racing) you should be okay.

Don't you have to re-install the cat when it's time for inspection?
Thanks, richard |
Yes when inspection time comes you have to put the cat back on. But it only takes about 15 min. if you are doing it by yourself.

That's good. Here in Oklahoma, we have no emissions tests, no vehicle inspections, no nothing. Only a law that it is unlawful to sell a car without a cat. Well, we can sure obey that law!
Thanks, Richard |
I live in california and had the megan test pipe on for like 6 months with my t1r 63mm exhaust... never any issues...
