Default Thermostat problem?

My fan seems to constantly run - it never seems to turn off. Could this be a bad thermostat? Anyone else have this problem?

Are you saying that it runs right from a cold start? Or do you mean it gets up to temp, fans come on and never stops?

The A/C, heat, etc... is not on. Yes, once the car warms up it comes on and does not stop. If I start the car and it is already warm from being recently driven and I am still at 3 bars on the temp guage, the fan will be on when started.

How is you coolant level in the reservoir and in the rad? When the engine is cold, remove the rad cap and have a look.
It's possible you have an air lock in the cooling system, a bad water pump, or a stuck thermostat. Have you done anything to your cooling system lately (boil over, flush, thermostat change)? Is your radiator blocked full of leaves?

The coolant level in the reservoir is at the proper level - thought also maybe it was low, but it is okay. Thinking it is just something I should take in to HOnda at this point. No blockage, I am meticulous about keeping the engine are clean and clear of leaves etc...

Thanks for your help!

either the thermostat is stuck or you have an airpocket somewhere in your coolant system that needs to be bled out....

How do I bleed the coolant? If the thermostat is stuck, it needs to be replaced or can it be fixed?

Here is my thread on a complete coolant flush and bleed. Just look at the part about bleeding:

Thermostats are relatively cheap compared to the labour involved in changing them. If it's the stat, buy a new one. You don't repair broken ones.

I had the same problem. The fan would come whenever the ignition was in the on position - even with a cold engine.

Took Honda just a few minutes to replace the faulty switch.
