The air duct on the stock airbox is ridiculously short and is basically sucking in hot air.
I am thinking of getting one of those long extension carbon fiber air duct that connects to the stock airbox. Does anyone have have this and does it make any difference in performance even with stock exhaust?

They help. The car runs better in the summer traffic. I do find lots of crap in the air box after a few months and vacuum it out.
I'm still running the stock exhaust.

is the opening of that down duct position right behind the grill? Would there be an issue with water getting into the airfilter after driving the car in the rain?

I have the AUS intake, which is not carbon fiber but is a lot cheaper. I have noticed a better throttle response and the sound is increased a little, but in my opinion it makes it sound better.
I have driven in gentle rains with no problems. I haven't had a chance to try it out in hot weather yet, which is the main reason I got it...

My earlier heat experiments concluded that the stock system sucks in a lot of hot air in city traffic. I ran the "snorkel" for several months. Although it won't give you any real gains, where it excels is allowing your engine to NOT lose power in the heat of the summer. It does require the removal or cutting of that slanted air guide. Also, the little intake air horn must be removed too.
If you don't want to spend that kind of money and don't mind the look, this will work just as well:

And for only about 10 bucks.

I have the Garage Defend C/F intake plate that Bullit Proof sells. I also run a JR filter and a Ztech C/F heat sheild. Seems to work just fine with little or no heat soak problems. If I only knew how to add a pic I would The old butt Dino say's it is faster than stock Just ask airgate or Wingman

Levoc,
I purchased the thing form one of our sponsors. Bullitproof automotive have a great list of stuff for our car and they where good to deal with. I thing it was around $300 but the Finished product is fab! Makes the whole engine bay look fantastic and the ram air does help! If you want I can e-mail you a pic.
