Times @ Laguna Seca??

I just wanted to know what kinds of times people had pulled around Laguna Seca. Please post your lap times and with what mods installed.

Sounds like everyone had a great time. I wish I could have attended.

Be careful with this question .... VERY careful ;)

I'll join in on Spanky's request. Since were here in Hawaii without a beautiful track like Laguna Seca to race on, we're totally jealous!!!

For liability reasons, we were told not to time laps. Some serious guys had some builtin lap timers. The only times I have seen publicly were from the King car. I saw a few other cars with them, but not sure if they were using them. And I never even saw anyone on pit wall with a stopwatch.

I can probably get a few of my laptimes from videotape, as I'm sure others can. Give me a day or two...

Technically, the laps were not timed, which was probably a good thing, considering the egos that can flare up in these situations that compromise safety. This event was operated as many open track events are, as a fun and instructional event. After getting onto that track, I must say that it really isnt about the times anyways (unless you are a racer)...just driving the course is challenging enough, and feeling your improvement throughout the day was a great reward in itself.

OK, for the curious, here are a few times, gleaned from various threads:

1:42.7 Doug Hayashi supercharged NSX Hoosiers (different event)
1:44.54 Jason Saini King/Mugen
1:46's and 1:47's Jason Keeney Big-Ass Hoosiers™? [mods?] (1:45 at Sunday event)
1:47 Bob driving Davepk's car supercharger / A032R / R4 & R4S / brake ducts / flywheel & PP
1:51 Kevin_B M Coupe street tires
1:52.1 Doug Hayashi A032R / R4 pads / ducts (+3-4 seconds with passenger)
1:53.12 Clark Yoko AVS Intermediate / Hawk Blue pads
1:56 spider stock tires / Panther+ & R4S pads / alignment
2:01 - 2:05 Tedster stock tires / R4S pads (just a few random laps from video, not necessarily my fastest)

Please correct me if I got any of these wrong. Also feel free to add any details about tires or other mods.

Does anyone else have times (perhaps from video) that they would care to share?

p.s. How come in Gran Tourismo 3 I can run 1:42 with a controller or 1:44 with the wheel with a totally stock S2000? Am I just 17 seconds braver when my neck and sheetmetal aren't really on the line?

I'm sure that has a little to do with you not having faster times that the ones you listed :D

Yeah, plus you can't expect the car/physics model in the game to be spot-on. The weather was cold and the track pretty slippery, too, as I recall.

OT: Why can you go faster with the controller than with the wheel? Seems counterintuitive.
