I know this horse has been beaten to death, but with the other site down I can't look up the old posts. I need to get some tires and will probably just go with the S-02s again. How can I ensure that I get the correct model S-02? Also has anyone run the AVS Sports? Thanks!

I read somewhere that the guys at tirerack.com knew exactly which ones to get. Good Luck!

Yes, the AVS sports are great tires, will save you about $200 for the set, and are about 97% as grippy as the S02's (track times suggest).
In my application, because my patches are bigger, they're more grippy. |
Thanks! I called Tire Rack and talked to them. I was mainly concerned because they listed some S-02s with a N3 designation. Turns out this is a Porsche specific tire and the regular S-02s are the correct ones. I am going to order up some tomorrow. I don't think I have ever paid 20 cents a mile for tires before in my life :D I hope I get more than 4k miles out of this set :D

4K miles! I

Yeah, well if you would try chasing Ole around the autocross course, you'd know why his tires need replacing - he's king of AS on street tires! I think you should invest in some high mileage, durable tires Ole. Say, with a treadwear rating of 800 or so. Whatever you do, do not get Kumhos or Hoosiers. No, not that :D.

For what its worth, I put on RE-730s at 9336 miles back in May. Four months and 32 autocross runs later (4 months, 4 runs x 2) and the rears were gone. The fronts had maybe another month on them so I threw them out and did a 4 tire change. This time Kumho ecsta street tires. These were changed at 14350 miles.
On this past Sunday, I finished 21 out of 83 drivers and first in AS, and first on street tires. Fun car huh? |

Has anyone tried to put wider tires on the stock rim? I was wondering what the result was in terms of handling, traction, speedometer accuracy, wear, etc. etc.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |
I know the autoxers are running 225 / 245 on the stock rims. Didn't Annie try 265 in the rear on the stock rims? I didn't think those would fit!
