Toda Valve springs on Stock Cams
#21
Out of curiousity, if the hope was to raise redline, then you'd need something to get rid of the limiter. If you do raise the redline, my worry wouldn't be so much as to valve floating but rather bending, that's just me, but then, I did manage to bend 4 exhaust valves. But liek the old saying goes, don't upgrade until it's broke, if it's working fine in your situation so be it, but the general flavor of this thread is it's a waste.

I don't think he's saying he wants to raise the redline. With stiffer valve springs and stronger retainers the threshold of valve float on an overrev can be raised. The chances of damaging the engine on a 3-4 misshift into 2 will be lower. How much lower, I don't know.

yes pantyraider... now your talking.... that is pretty much what I am looking for. Well the car has 100,000 kms so i guess it would be time to change the retainers anyways no?...
The car will be doing some ecu modifications....as for raising the redline... i dont think I would.. i just want to be on the safe side more than anything.

There aren't any CPU modification for the 2001 are there? There's piggyback or new ECU (EMS). With 100,000 Kms, I'd be looking at suspension bushings more than at the engine. They're tired at this point. I have 54K miles on mine and am contemplating replacing the control arms to get new bushings.

What I mean is replace the stock bushings with stock bushings. Rubber bushings get tired, air crack and take a beating. They get soft and don't do their jobs as well. I was just going to order control arms from Honda.
I'm not a fan of polly. I might use it for sway bar mounts but, not in the suspension. Mugen makes harder rubber bushings but, I can't find any good numbers on how hard they are.
Spherical bearings are good too but, they're loud and wear out frequently.

Waste of money IMO. If you want to raise your redline cheaply just use exhaust valve springs all around with quality Ti retainers.
on the ti retainers.

I've got supertech valve sets in stock...I can part out the retainers if you still want to go with the Toda springs.

I would suggest intake springs rather than the weaker exhaust springs.
