I am an avid biker and see no issue with the bike racks. I plan on putting a hitch on my CR so I can have a bike rack on the back of it, also for a small tire trailer. Maybe a portion of the bike rack theme is due to cost. Economy is coming up but not quick... Let's face it a decently fast Mt. Bike can be had for under $5k. How much does $5k get you in the car world??? No matter what people do with their cars someone thinks it's the worst thing in the world. Without diversity there is no tuning world.
$5K for a moutain bike?

I paid $5,399 for my Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle brand new! It's more fun and just as fast as a $100,000 car.

Are mountain bikes these days made from titanium and carbon fiber to shed 10 lbs? This is almost like ricing a car...spending a fortune to go 1% faster.

I have riden many crotch rockets and other motorcycles in general and I prefer Mt Biking. The next bike I am going to buy will be a little over $6k all built and done. it is a one time cost, once its built there is little to no maintenance. The bike I am having made is going to be just for me. I am going on a "dyno" to test my strength, endurance and riding style. Then they will take all that and make a frame just for me. The frame alone is about $3500 but has a no matter what happens lifetime warranty. I have raced a lot and in a 100km race you can tell a 1lb difference. I can't pit and add fuel. So every once I can take off my bike is less I have to pedal around.

Not that you care but I sent a link to give you and idea of what goes into these bikes. This link shows a non-custom bike frame.

I actually read in SS a while ago that there is a new type of ricey-ness called "JDM rice". It has a lot to do with people going for look over function; like using a staggered wheel setup on a FWD car. So maybe that's a new trend itself.

I'll take a roof rack over hellaflush any day.

Seriously, that IS the worst trend today.

I have no problem with hellaflush guys, but I hate lots of camber. I have no problem with sticker bomb guys but I would never do it. Racks are fine. I just really dislike the rusted out parts. I can understand the other looks but rust? I dont get it.

Lol, I knew someone must have tried it... Not a terrible idea if you're on a really long road trip, but I'm not sure I personally could stand the embarrassment of towing a trailer behind a sports car...
