Too good to be true?
Well I made it back to the dealership yesterday after work to take a closer look. Photographs are here:

Sorry, CG...no blower is present. It does have a shiny Injen intake though. The more I looked at this car, the more I wondered what the hell the owner was thinking. "R" badges, ugly wheels (IMO), tires that look like they're too high of a profile, shoddy stereo install, shift knob from some 5-speed car, and a gage cluster for a turbo/supercharger. Granted, he maybe took the blower out before selling. And in the guy's defense, while the exhaust doesn't look good, it does sound good. I couldn't test drive it b/c it was parked on a grassy area, so driving off would have required moving a bunch of trucks or driving over the curb...not pretty. Incidentally, the tag said $29500...that's with 24k miles on it. The salesman sounded kinda desperate to get rid of it, asking no less than twice if I knew anyone who might be interested.
One other thing, I noticed a second, much smaller air filter down below the Injen (I think you can see it in one or both of the under-hood photos). Looked like the hose it was attached too was heading down towards the left front wheel. Anyone have an idea what it was?
Anyway, there you have it...the car WAS too good to be true.

I get a weird feeling from this car; it's either been wrecked and shoddily re assembled or just plain abused by the previous owner. Did there appear to be any body work done and what was the condition of the paint? I'd say that this car should be selling for way under market value, maybe something like $22-23,000. What's with the exhaust?
Thanks for the pics Tedow, it is a cryin' shame what some peeps will do. I would like to have a 3/4 view of the car for the wheels sake (no I they don't look good...haha, but I collect pictures of S2000's with different wheels for reference), did you take any pics like that?

That is a disturbing display of bad taste and sheer stupidity. This is why so many other car aficionados (BMW, Porsche, etc.) mock import owners, as a group... and rightfully so. Taking a good car and doing this to it... it's shameful.
Heh, glad I'm not alone in being suspicious of this car.
S2KGuy: Sorry, those are all the pics I took. If I happen to find myself back there with my (office's) camera, I'll snag a 3/4 for you.
jallen: I didn't examine the body work real closely, but I did notice that the back portion of the top (by the bottom right corner of the window) had what appeared to be paint overspray specks on it. Didn't think to get a picture of it though. My thought was to wonder what kind of damage required repainting of an area that far from the rear of the car.
One of the guys in my office offered this suggestion for why it was at a used car dealer: "Maybe after they put all those mods on it, they realized they'd totally fvcked up the car." I'd say he may be on to something.
