Took delivery 2-13-03 - 2003 suzuka, great price

I just wanted to say thanks to the people on the board for all the help. Using ulrich's post (Chicago prices) as a starting point, and initially going thru Honda of Joliet, I got to a price of $29500 or so. I was just about to check into flights to Chi, but I first called my local Honda dealer, Faulkner Honda of Harrisburg. I have dealt with them before (civic for the gf), and also used their Subaru dealership for my "02 WRX. They have always been very good, but I figured they would never match such a good price. I took them the email of the offer for H.O. Joliet (yes, literally, with yellow highlighter on the important parts). I said I would buy from them if they could match it, and 2 days later I got a call that they would. This was mid-January. I told them I wanted Suzuka, they said thay had one coming mid-Feb, picked it up yesterday.

As I recall, the final #s are 48 mos, 12000 miles, zero down (actually $515 down, as first and tags/license), no security deposit. Next payment due March 13, $378.00.
The cap cost price was $29500 or so, 59% residual. The monthly was 349 plus tax (9% for a lease in PA) = $378.

My insurance with the 02 WRX was about $685 annually. With both, it is about doubled to $1300 or so annually. That's life.

Now, the new questions. I would like to clear my front turn signals and sidemarkers. I may remove my tape, but want to see a suzuka picture with the tape off. I would really like to paint my headlight housings body color. Oh, and I need a car cover. I have no garage, and it is going to snow for awhile here. Let me hear the prices, difficulty, etc for the above, if you know them.

Thanks - Mike
Oh, and how do I change my "title" to owner?

Here ya go, my Suzuka with no tape. I have a question though - are you leasing your S? If so, can you take the tape off since you are leasing, because you can't put it back on....

Hey you guys, I am a new owner of a 2003 Suzuka also...since last Monday.

My question may sound stupid, but what tape are you guys talking about removing?

Congratulations and welcome. To change to owner go to the My S2000 section. Click the little red start button. Click the edit profile section. Then about half way down the page you will see a place to enter your VIN. Also there are two forums you will want to look at. The Allegheny and Delaware Valley. We are currently planning a drive in May. It's the PM/MD Run in the Delaware valley forum.

I've remove the black tape around the windshield and I think it looks great! Also be warned that you may not have perfect paint under the tape. 90% of mine was fine. The other 10% had to be buffed by the dealership and it is fine now.

Keep it under 5500 rpm until you have at least 600 miles. This is required for proper break-in of the engine. Also check oil frequently since the S likes oil at first.

Under 600 miles :drive: Over 600 miles :burnrubr:

Congrats, nice color choice, hope you have an early spring to enjoy going topless.

Have all owners that removed the tape had to get the paint buffed out???

If so what product did you use?? ZAINO? 3M? I would like to remove the tape on my sebring but am afraid of the quality of the paint. Also is the paint clear coated in that area?

pjkwong 02-14-2003 06:52 AM

Why the tape at the factory on it in the first place?
Should we be removing it??

Many owners think the car looks good with the tape off if the top is down. Many of those also think the car looks better with the tape if the top is up. A (very) few have removed the tape to find an incomplete paint job there. It will cost $ if you decide to put the tape back on and it is not easy from what I understand. There are many threads concerning this issue.
Seek and ye shall find. :hello:
