Mine does this and I am going to replace the straps this spring. In the meantime, I push the bar back manually when lowering the top.
This is what I used ^^. I just by habit still push the bar back, just like I help lift the top after unlatching when it starts to fold back. To preserve it longer, I assist.

Modifry is the way to go. $20 and you can do it 5 minutes. I got a second pair after 5 years when those started to loose elasticity.

I have never even opened my "secret" compartment since nothing buy paperwork can even fit in there and it's in an awkward position to start with.

can fit 9 cans of beer.. or a couple quarts of oil, or snacks... or your goto driving hat, with your shades in the front slot. I mean.. it's not that useless..

I found $4,000 cash in mine. Maybe you should check yours.

I have a lot of junk in mine. I knew it wasn't small, but I never would have guessed 9 cans of beer or $4k in cash would fit.

This forum is so educational! : )

another +1 for the modifry straps. The best part is that they dont require any tools except a pair of scissors and they are held in place by the strap wrapping around itself. Took my friend and i 10 minutes to install. 10 min because i suck at trying to do things without being able to see what i'm doing lol.
