Thanks Chris! I'm very interested in the 2017 Q1 numbers. These are all S2000s- including salvage as long as they're registered. Maybe my model is closer to the number of clean title cars?

I'm not an expert, but i think this number may exclude vehicles that are PNO (planned non-op) as Experian's website says their VIO is "a collection of all cars and light trucks that are currently registered on the road." Either way it's either with or without PNO, which is probably a negligible number anyway.

From close of Q2 2016 to close of Q4 2016, we lost 725 cars.

The most staggering statistic? there's only 14 2009 CR registered! (535 2008 CR)

Q1 2017 numbers should be out shortly so i can update if you'd like.

EDIT: Disclaimer: This data, although an industry standard tool, is not perfect. For example, i just looked up 1998 Integra Type R and it shows zero are registered...which i don't believe since i've seen a few of them roaming around SoCal...hmm...
Great research. 51k cars registered may be in line with the other numbers. Roughly 40k clean title and 10k salvage--is that plausible? Roughly 20% of S2000 registered are rebuilt? Seems high buy maybe.

725 cars lost out of approx 53,000 lost in half a year is uncannily along the lines of the models + plus 20% or totaled cars returned to registrations.

53k to start times 1/2 of 3.47% is about 918 cars totaled. Assume 20% of the totaled cars make it back to registration and that leaves 735 cars no longer registered--pretty close to 725!

as a part-time job to supplement my incomes, I have always bought and fixed Hondas.
this used to mean buying and fixing CRX…..but that came to pass as KIDS ruined them to not be fixed
So I bought my S2k and fixed it.

too many are RUINED by kids.
someday they will HAVE to increase in value like the crx or integra

I actually own a Barrett Jackson Honda car……but too soon

Yep it's unfortunate that kids now own these cars that we covet from our youths just because they can be had for as cheap as $1-2k, even sub $1k sometimes. I just purchased a 2000 Integra GSR in Feb from a 21 y.o. with 7 owners and the car was trashed. Almost every bushing or ball joint was destroyed, missing stuff here and there. Anything rubber was torn. I spent $6.5k into it already just to get it to an acceptable condition. I will never get the money back either because anyone looking to buy these cars just wants a cheap ride. I doubt i'll ever find someone like me to buy it that would appreciate all the life i just poured back into the car.

Sorry to go off topic lol...but yeah, the S2k will be like this within a decade. There are already plenty of $5-6K salvage Ap1s. It's just the life cycle of a popular affordable Honda.

Seems high, I can pretty much guarantee more than 170 2007s have been written off in the last 10 years.

Figure if we average all these numbers it shows about 45k still on the roads which isn't bad actually, figured it'd be lower.

Well I have 2 just as you described yours ... But learned from an acquaintance some very reclusive guy in NorCal has allegedly been collecting bone stock, single owner, 100% original, very low mileage S2000's and now supposedly has 23 plus several CR's and a GPW (Europe only) Ultimate Edition. Why? ... I have no idea.

Because some people are really boring. Gah that person sounds lame.
