Variable Gear Steering for S2000
I know this info is old (2000), but I never saw anything about the "V" model JDM S2000 until today.
I was searching for JDM parts, and came across this info: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...bfc6cf75a2.jpg http://www.honda.co.nz/h.nsf/w/NT00005B5E?opendocument http://www.zigzagasia.com/zza/cars/s2000/0...19/project.html -Pete |
god i want that....even just the steering wheel, it looks so bad ass, and would be a lot easier on entryexit to the car!

Too bad it doesn't fit, otherwise I'd have it.

a reduction in turns lock to lock from 2.4 to just 1.4 i'd really like to try that ! :) |
Why wont it fit on our car?

Nahhhh of course it will fit it's the exact same steering wheel that is on our cars now, the only difference is the plastic molding around the outside (top and bottom of steering wheel). The actual difference in the car is the differential, thus the name VGS (Variable Gear Selection) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...b1a5b3c921.jpg Which changes gear ratios depending on driving conditions. (basically a steering assisted gear ratio) It's supposed to increase the "fun factor" of driving the car, but every test it runs a second or two slower lap times than the regular S2000. |

I read about 10 different threads today that all say the VGS wheel won't fit on the USDM S2000s. If you are right, and everyone else is wrong, you will be a hero, because there are many owners who would like to have this mod. I hope you are right. I went to the website, and saw the wheel and VGS logo. I also sent them an e-mail specifically asking if it is possible to do the conversion, and if any other hardware is required. At least, if they are wrong about the fit, the wheel should be returnable. I think the price was around $800, just like our OEM. :yikes: That's because of the airbag, but what about the cruise controls? -Pete |
actually, it is not the same, the bottom half is cut off, thus making it straight at the bottom....i think it will fit, but there is only one way to find out.....
Leo, wanna try, and let us know?!?! J/K....that would be cool if it did though! |
uh acutally it is true, the internals of the wheel are completely different than that of a normal vgs s2000.
