Default Vin tags

Just a random thought that popped into my head while I was driving in my S, I was wondering if anyone has ever had vin stickers made for their S? We all know that if you are looking at buying an S and it is represented as all original that it should have 10 vin tags so is it possible to make new ones that look original?

seems like it could be used for nefarious reasons to misrepresent, no?

On my MB 2020 vehicle, falling ice from a tree damaged the aluminum hood. The hood was replaced with a new OEM piece and repainted and all the stickers under the thing were duplicated. They look absolutely identical to the originals. There must be some professional outfit that makes them look like the ones installed when new.

sorry, this would only be used for fraud and should not be permitted

That’s what I was thinking just wondering if someone is looking to buy a S should they not assume that just because it has all its vin tags that they are original ones. If someone alters a regular vin on a car to make it more valuable that is a federal offense with serious consequences was wondering if it is the same with the vin tags.

Sadly, my 2000 AP1 got painted in 2006, and the paint shop removed the manufacturer tag inside the driver's side door. I don't remember whether that had the VIN on it along with all the other federal requirements, but the CA Highway Patrol required a manual inspection before I could register the car in the state. This isn't quite the same as the smaller stickers that have only the VIN on them.

If I could travel back in time to 2006, I'd yell at the paint shop until they restored the federally-required door sticker. I didn't even notice at the time.

If you have an S2000 where the hood was replaced, then the new hood shouldn't show the VIN of the original hood. I thought the whole point of having multiple VIN stickers was to show that a car still has all of the original pieces, like engine hood, trunk lid, doors, etc.

I agree I was talking to someone who was interested in buying a S2000 and I told him about the 10 vins on the car and showed him on my S which still has all the factory vins on it and he wasn’t aware that they had them and agreed that it was a good idea on Honda’s part. After looking around in other threads it appears that it would be really difficult for an unscrupulous seller to put replacement vins that look like the originals on non original parts. Maybe if S2000’s shoot way up in value it may be something to beware of in the future if someone is looking to buy.

Yes, they are available. I can't remember who makes them, however

They're available. When my Lexus was repainted the shop ordered new vin stickers and put them on when they finished the job.
