The walk of shame...
I knew it was only a matter of time before I got the best of myself and was forced to do the walk of shame. You know...where you walk around your car after spinning it out and check for the damage.
As it would go...I was going around a left hand sweeper in the dark of the night; vtec in 2nd and the shift into 3rd sent my car sideways and spun me around and off into shoulder...I did a 360 in the grass and ended up facing back down the road off in the grass. :shame on me: not smooth on the shifting and not so good tires on a cold night = unhappy S.
Well I was lucky, only lots of grass and a quick wash and I am good to go. Thankfully the Lord saw fit that I should learn to respect my S, and even saw to it that the prior person @ the car wash left me with only .50 of the $2.50 spray wash bill. So .50 cents later my S is shiny and new and I am thankful thats all it cost.
So my fellow S2ki'ers share with me your walks of shame. Pictures and lessons learned are welcome. May this thread heed warning to others...drive safe!

going backwards is bad

crappy photo hides lots of grass in the rim

say farewell to the side skirt..

Instance 1)
driving down the roada couple months ago, I hit black ice and started to lose control. Fishtailed about 5 times back and forth but was able to bring it under control before ending up in a ditch.
Instance 2)
Took a long left hand curve at a highway junction too fast on old tires and spun 180 in the middle of the road. Thankfully it was in the middle of nowhere and there were no cars within miles of me.
No damage either time, thankfully. Lessons learned both times.

I've spun mine more than a few times.
At the track under controlled circumstances. When the tail comes out on the street (which it has) I feel much more comfortable getting the car strait with that experience under my belt.

The walk of shame! lol i love it.
i've got an interesting one.
7:30 AM and i am cruising up to school in my S. i never ordinarily drive my car to school because it's a long highway drive and the parking lot is known for its dings and dents. Today i was running late and it was nice out so i was feeling it.
Approaching a long curved on ramp to a major road i am at a constant left turn for a few seconds that can be quite sharp depending on how fast you're going.
I was going fast - faster than i should have in the 50 degree weather. This was no cold road spin though - i ran over a fu**ing sweater!!! There was a grey sweater in the middle of the road that my back left just happened to clip - and now i am sideways in the middle of a big ass curved turn at 45mph with another onramp on the right merging up to me. Shit.
I did my best to keep the car to the left wall so i didnt hit any traffic entering from the right side. This involved dodging 2 or 3 road markers, which i somehow managed to not hit. Right after i straightened out it i impulsively got out of the car and walked around a few times to check things. All things good. After 2 mins of shaking in my boots i was ready to go again lol.
Moral of the story? DONT DRIVE ON CLOTHING on the stock s02's. Tirerack rates their dry, wet, and snow capabilities, but it's anybody's guess when it comes to cotton and polyester. Take it from me, it's worse than blizzard conditions.
Happy spinning.

In 2001 I was coming back from a an HPDE at Road Atlanta in my 1st S2000 (MY2000) driving South on I-75 (6 southbound lanes) I had worn all the tread off the insides of my rear SO2's with a UK alignment at the track event and was proceeding along with traffic in the left lane at 85 mph. It started to sprinkle slightly, I increased speed to get to the next exit more quickly so I could put the top up.
Suddenly, the giant SUV in front of me slams on their brakes and swerves to the right. Directly in front of me, taking up almost the entire leftmost lane is a full-sized tractor tire still mounted on the rim - the thing had to be at least 6 feet in diameter. There is a car directly to my right and there is no way I can accellerate past them and change lanes, and I can't go left because there is a concrete wall there.... you can probable guess the rest... I hit the brakes and turned the wheel sharply right...
"Welcome to Spin City!, I'm you're mayor, Crash Wipeout!"
I went into a hard right spin, did a full 360- then another 180 (facing into oncoming traffic with my brake pedal to the floor still going 60+mph BACKWARDS) There was a TON of traffic (this is a Monday afternoon, just before rush hour, just S. of Atlanta) for some reason (certainly no conscious though involved), I lifted my foot off the brake and turned the wheel hard left, spun another full 360 to the right and crossed the remaining 2.5 lanes of traffic, went backwards off the road and down into a shallow ditch full of about 6 inches of stagnant water. The entire interior of the car, as well as my whole body, was just coated in mud, leaves, pine needles, mosquito larvae, etc. I was absolutely sure the car was totalled.
I got out of the car with my whole body shaking from the adrenaline overload and there isn't a scratch on either me or the car. I look back along my skid marks and see that when I left the pavement I somehow managed to just squeeze between a concrete wall and a big steel light pole. The truly amazing thing is that I crossed 5 full lanes of high-speed, dense traffic, and not only did nobody hit me, nobody hit anyone else avoiding me either. There must have been some really incredible driving going on (not by me obviously), as well as some amazing luck and divine intervention to have prevented a 20 car pile up.
I get my trusty beach towel out of the trunk (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy readers unite!) wipe off myself and the interior and drive up out of the ditch and on to the highway (I had to wait about 10 minutes for a big enough gap in traffic to merge-that's how dense the traffic was) and roll to the next exit to assess the damage. I had popped out the left rear fender attachment and slightly bent one of the muffler hangers and that was IT! It took a bit of work getting the interior cleaned out but holy moly, I didn't mind at all.
That was about 6 years ago now and I have not spun either of my S2K's accidentally since. I am pretty careful about my rear tire tread now as well
Drive safe!
