On this same note, after blowing him away with a fair start at about 60MPH, I gave a Turbo Eclipse a 2 car head start from about 60MPH, then dropped the hammer.
I blew by him and was 2 cars lengths in front by the time I hit 115. He was very impressed, and strangely for a racer - had no idea what I was driving. Everyone needs a SC.

BTW, after getting my ITR stolen and really missing that VTEC rush, I test drove a 5-speed 330i. Lot's of torque but no power above 6000 rpm, I kept revving until redline but power just dies...very good daily driver for the city streets but does not compare to that wicked thrust you get when your head snaps back from shifting at 9000 rpm!!!
That's why I bought the S2K!!!

Eyeabusers are FAST in a straight line, but handle like a bus...so I have to disagree that it's anywhere near 10 times more fun, unless your definition of fun as going in a straight line or wheelies (and yes, I've ridden one - when the road turned twisty, I couldn't wait to get back on the R6 I owned at the time).

Ok, I've done some research and here are the numbers:
S2k = 240 hp 153 tq 2,800 lbs
330 CI = 225 hp 214 tq 3,350 lbs (a FLAT torque curve too)
Car & Driver posted a 14.8 1/4 mile @ 95 mph with this BMW. Did I read something like 14.2 @ 98 for the S2000? Pretty damn close!
Mr. 330 is about 500 lbs heavier which is going to cost him more from a dead stop than rolling. If one of you good launchers met him at the drag strip you'd probably grab a car length at the start and win by that same car length at the end of the quarter. My encounters were no brainer (and no fried clutches) rolling 5-6,000 rpm starts and we were tied together.
I am not embarrassed. If I wanted to drag race I would have bought a used Buick GNX! (talk about a one trick pony!)The S2K is a great all around performer. Our lighter weight great balance would leave the heavier BMW on a road course.

Unicron,
I don't mean to intrude on your stomping grounds, but had to drop in a check out the feedback. I need to change my oil before we hit it again. On a side note.... my mods, the Dinan CIA & Software Download (not chip), give me at most 15 horses at the crank so roughly 11 at the wheels. I think I'll get better gains when get my Fikses (almost 10 lbs lighter) and most importantly NEW rear tires, but then again I want to race again with your stock tire set up to see how you do. Maybe we can have a flag girl this time. Also, let's do a 5 mph rolling start. Heck let's just go to Baytown!

I'll bet Sev could pull a better that 14.8 out of the 330 too!

Not to argue with numbers (not my favorite way of comparison), but...
The BMW site lists the 330i coupe pulling a 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. Honda site list S2000 0-60 in less than 6 seconds.
Let's just say a S2000 driver that knows his car can outrun a 330i guy that knows his car well. I personally ran with a 330i sedan on the road, and I was pulling on him.
