Well, it's a done deal... I got an M Coupe! (kind of long).

I don't blame you. I've owned my S2000 since Dec. '99 and not a day has gone by that I don't kick myself in the ass for not getting an M Coupe instead. I didn't realize at the time that the prices were so close. Oh well, I don't think it's the last car I'll ever own, so there's time to make up for the mistake.
Anyway, I'm probably the only other person here who has had close to (well, actually more, I think) problems than you have had with you S2000, so that's probably why I feel this way.

(dunno how much over yet, but a dealer offered me $10k over
a couple of weeks ago). And there is also a waiting list 2
years long, not that the list matters much in the eyes of
the dealer, as they'll sell to anyone willing to pay the
markup

Hey everyone... thanks for the good words.
I felt like I was betraying the brotherhood with my previous post ("thinking of trading the S2000 in on an M Coupe) but now that it's done, everyone is just as supportive. Thanks.
And as for specifics on the Coupe? Well the one that I ended up getting (not the one in Atlanta) is a 1999 Estoril Blue with the sunroof and 6 disc cd changer. I was a little apprehensive of giving up my 2000 S2000 for a "pre-owned" 1999 car. After all I bought the S2000 new, and I have never purchased a "used" car.
Why did I do it? Well, there are benefits of being a certified pre-owned BMW. First off, all the work has been documented, has never had any body damage or body work at all, and because of that I get one heckuva warranty. Since my car has 19,000 miles on it (4k more than my S2000 had), all the maintenance is performed free of charge until the 3/36 timespan runs out (May 2002). And then, the remainder of the factory warranty carries through. AND on top of that, I get an extra 2 years/50K miles warranty on top of the Factory 4/50 because it's certified. So I have no worries at all until May 2005, or 100,000 miles, whatever comes first.
Needless to say I'm extremely happy with my decision. Unfortunately, I won't be able to report on the Pilot Sports (sorry legalrep), push a start button or view the nighttime through HID lighting. But, oh well. I'll still be around, and the next time there is a central Florida S2000 meet, I'll be there. Hell, I might even let you all drive the M Coupe just to experience a REAL car with torque (just joking, of course).
If anyone has any questions about performance, comfort, anything, feel free to shoot me an email. After all I've been on both sides of the fence. Oh an on a side note, one of the used sales guys commented "Oh so this is the competition to the Z3 (talking about the S2000 in a smarmy greased hair back 26 year-old kind of way). I don't see what the big deal is." And, he was comparing it to the base Z3. What a jackass. I'm quite sure that the S2000 saw a little use that day, too.

Hey Palmateer...
Yep, got it at Reeves. You should go by and take the white/red out for a drive. Therefore, you can get a feel for Michelin Pilot Sports, and see what they are selling it for .
