VTEC - primitive two-stage cam phasing
iVTEC - next generation phasing with smoother transitions and better power distro between phases

With regular VTEC you only see the benefits at high RPM's. With I-VTEC you see benefits thru the whole RPM range.

It gets more technical than that but that's it in a nutshell.

Thank you, that's a great explanation.

i wud sey civics r slo, my fweind floored it, as a mustang owner and screamed v tecccccc! to make fun o how slow et wuz.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyazh...layer_embedded
(video is why he screamed v tec for lulz. And if you don't realize I'm talking about new civics like the base model 1.4 i-vtec... I do laugh whenever a civic has i-vtec on the side and the owner is all proud of it though, they would be better off with a mustang trying to extend their groin secton with something like i-vtec)

edit: Oh noesss someone neg repped me on this, mah feelings be hurt.
