Have had it for 3 months and have 4K miles...Will wait till around 7500 miles, maybe 10K
So I guess it's true about that good Humboldt county stuff. 7,500-10k miles in California??? You really may want to rethink that strategy. Just go out and look at your oil now. I bet it's blacker than night. If you're going to leave that in for another 5k miles you're just asking for problems.
i personally am going to wait till 3750 miles even though 6 months has already gone by. im not risking it. i currently have 1600 miles.
Razor...just go ahead and change it now. The amount of molybdenum that Honda put in the factory fill to claim that it is "special" is so miniscule that it is not worth waiting until 3750 miles if you are driving your car at the rate you are. Only 1600 miles in six months!! How do you do it? Your self-restraint is impressive.

Does it hurt to change early? Maybe, I don't know. Maybe just the first time. Maybe not at all. But Honda bulit the car - I'll do what they say until I know more than they do, which will be never.
Why would it "hurt" the car to change the oil early?

9 months/5500 miles (the car wasn't run for the first two months due to winter). Runs like a bull in July so I'm glad I followed the owner's manual.
Would have waited until 7500 had I not considered myself in the "severe" category with regards to my daily driving environment.

if you go synthetic, how often do you have to change it.
and once you go synthetic, you have to stick with synthetic right?
what is a good synthetic oil, i just passed 10k miles.

If I remember correctly, I changed mine at about 3900 miles. I am at 13,000 miles now and I will go synthetic soon.

3950 miles, about two months. When I drop the oil I do it while its red hot and let it drip overnight. Even jacking up the driver's side of the car a little gets some more to come out. Went with Mobil drive clean, big difference in the color of the oil on the dipstick. It's actually so clean it's hard to make out the oil on the stick.

3750 was my first change. The oil was pitch black, so I think it was the right move.

My engine has sealed up (it's at around 11K now -- 2 add'l changes since the first), and I've been runing dino. Next change (soon) will be to Mobil 1 synth.

Car runs like a top.

New oil and filter at 3 month and 3,500 ml. I also changed the MTF and diff fluid to Mobil1 too, if that is not enough!

Dealer recommends synthetic oil change at every 7,500 miles, severe conditions here in Florida.
