Does anyone know what this thing boxed in red is? This is a view of the spare tire area.



After a month of searching, I finally identified this as the source of my rattle. At exactly 3k rpm with my HKS exhaust, it vibrates and drives me crazy. If I press on it gently, the rattling stops.

The screws around this mystery part don't tighten. Can I dynamat it or something to reduce the vibration?

I think that is the top of the fuel tank.

Thanks! I'll dig into my helms manual to see if there's anything I can tighten or adjust to stop the rattling.

 

Squirt some silicone chaulk on it,,,

 

Just loosened one of the screws. Threw a little strip of dynamat between the two rattling parts.

Shoot I am getting a rattle around 3k rpm also... Let that piece be it!
