They serve an actual aerodynamic purpose. A spinning wheel & tire produces alot of turbulence. These strakes help reduce amount of air that reaches the area.

Both of mine fell off randomly and took the mounting bolts and some of the fender liners with them... Seems that these items flying off at speed is a common thing!

LOL---these are my scrape detectors. They are the first part that scrapes telling me to slow down and be careful. Kinda like curb feelers!

Same here. I don't even recall hearing/seeing them go either.

Funny stories for both of mine.

One was at my work parking lot where I saw some random car plastic laying near my usual parking spot. I picked it up, looked at it and wondered, “what kind of junky POS car did this random thing just fall off of...” looked under the S and saw where it fell off of! Funny part about this is I must have just tapped one of those parking spot stopper things with the deflector and it simply dropped off and I didn’t notice until a few days later.

The other side happened while I was driving on the freeway and heard something clearly run over by both passenger side tires. I knew pretty quickly what it was, so got off on the next exit, circled around and got back on the freeway at the on ramp just before where it flew off, and luckily the deflector had made it near the far right emergency lane. Pulled over, opened the door, picked it up off the pavement and drove off.

Both times very lucky to have found them when they fell off. Especially because they took the bolts and some of the fender liners with them. When zip tying them back to the fender liners/underbody tray having those bits made it much easier.
