What's the possibility of retrofitting the glass rear window to pre '02s?

As I have said, it IS official. Honda has announced to their dealers that there WILL be a glass rear window. Last week I told you there would be a blue/blue and that has been confirmed. The dealers were told about the glass window at the same time.
You didn't tell us about the new silver though! And just because you got the blue/blue right does not confirm you were right about the glass window (but you still may be). I am beginning to think the car might actually get a glass rear window -- albeit a very small one. IMHO, Honda should've just made a "Muzmat" a standard option -- that would have fixed 75% of compliants.

We need to find a mole in the factory who can find out the answers to such questions as, "Will there be a glass rear window?"

Why are the dealers suddenly so believable? Usually nobody believes a word they say.

Okay, I've been thinking about this glass back window thing and that it would have to be really small or un-zip.
Well, I seem to remember seeing a folding glass rear window quite a few years ago. I think it was on some domestic car. (Sorry, but I don't remember the exact car).
Anyway, it had some sort of silicone flexible joint connecting the upper and lower glass pieces together.
Probably not the best looking scenario but possible with larger pieces of glass!

just my two cents!!!

Sooo...anyways, I think it's entirely possible that the new glass window can be retrofit. I'd bet that there are no structural changes to the roof, only a zip-in glass piece to replace the plastic. I'd also bet that you'd have to replace all the canvas to do it.

All speculation, of course.

Ok, let's ASSUME glass will be offered. If it fits in the same top well, it will be TINY and I don't want one.

I do not believe Honda will do anything to reduce the already compromised visibility with the top up!

Uh Guys,
A BIG part of the reason we're going to Japan on June 15th is to ask the Honda factory folks these same questions. A discussion period is part of the tour. Screw the dealer pipeline. They have their own interests. I'm getting it from the source.

If I see blue LHDs being built or S2Ks with glass rear windows, you'll know from US in June, not the dealer in September.

Let me know if you'd like to see the plan for 2002 firsthand. We could always use more of you along with us.

I don't consider it to be official until Honda releases a statement to the public about it. Hearing a dealer tell me so doesn't make me believe it...just ask all those people who were told 5,000/year, 2 years.
