When racing do you use the clutch?
Just wondering do you use the clutch to shift up while racing?
I don't do this to my S2000, but I do match gears it on other cars. I did try it once on my car the other day while cruising.

im sure you could do it, but why put the S under that stress if the clutch and all that is connected is as fragile as it is?

Johninator nascar drivers can do it in their cars because they have race boxes that are rebuilt often and Im not sure about nascar in particular but similar race cars in Australia use dogboxes with square cut gears allowing fast shifts but are designed to be rebuilt after each race.
As far as the smoother shifting, are you referring to weight transfer from shifting making for a smoother change if no clutch is used? You still need to take you foot off the gas to shift without the clutch so the weight transfer is still going to occur and is not the reason for clutchless shifts so I still wouldn't be shifting whilst pushing lateral gs.
Thing is, by shifting this way you are putting a lot more stress and hence wear on your sychros which are a lot more of a pita to replace then your clutch so that in itself is enough reason to shift using the clutch.

heel toe is only for downshifting man.
rev match is necessary when upshifting if you shift TOO SLOW and the rpm drops below what the tranny is spinning at. this is where u need to blip the throttle b/w the upshfit to match the engine and tranny speed. i do this during normal driving and passengers always comment on how smooth the shift was, almost like an "automatic" gear shift.
