Will the s2k engine be like the type R one day....
The thread below got me thinking about this a few days ago. Then I read more and more about different cars using the f20. I have even read about a CRX owner trying to do the swap....
Would suck if the s2k turned into a type R stealing fest. So you guys think thats this is a possibility or is it just to damn hard? My theory is that so many s2ks are getting wrecked that the engine is being sold for pretty cheap prices which allows other car owners to experiment and might start to cacth on.... moral of story! Don't wreck your s2k :) |

I doubt it. Theres alot of custom work swapping the F20C into other chassis where as the B18c5 drops right into basically any civic out there.
|
no kidding it would takea complete overhaul where most people wouldn't spend the time of day think about it theyd be cutting up the firewall and building transmission tunnel and a custom driveshaft um mount rear differential it would take alot of money and time when like said earlier u can drop a b18 in a civic in a weekend

Cheap? I think the f20c engines are hella expensive!! Cheapest I've heard is around $3500k for a used f20c and averaging around $4000. To me that's really expensive!!

Thats motor alone right ?

I doubt it, just the fact it's made for RWD would be too much work for most people
|
K20 will be easier. Decent power, FWD, and readily available - RSX, TSX, Accord, Element, Civic Si etc...There's already mounting kits to put it in older Civics - which turn out really fast.
|
Not too many s2000 owners are stealing s2000 motors to swap into their s2000. Go figure.
And it would cost more to put in a stolen s2000 motor into a civic then just buy an engine for it. But your seats on the other hand... |
Dont underestimate what people are capable of. At a show a couple of years ago there was a guy who took a supercharged small block GM 350 and stuffed it into a of all things a Pontiac Grand Am. Converted it to RWD and everything. Pretty amazing. I say so what if someone figures out a way to do it. Make a damn fast Civic. No matter what it still wont be an S. Anyone who truly loves this car doesnt buy it just for the numbers, anyway. Just my .02.

I don't think they will steal our F20c or F22c motors and put it in the civic, first all our motors doesn't even bolt up. Second, we have RWD, and converting a FWD to a RWD is going to be a pain the ass and not to mention the parts!!

unlikely, but that would make a bad *** RWD 240hp 9000RPM CRX.
(2100 lbs?!) |
if ur going to spend all those money and put in a civic or any other cars... why don't you just buy an S2000 and join the crew...........and maybe supercharge the s2000
|
with a custom bell housing, the F20 can bolt up to a K tranny and go in a FWD car.
that housing is expensive, and K20s are better swap candidates anyway. |
Well, what about all the new Lotus Elise owners? What are they going to do after their Toyota engines blow apart?
If it were me, I'd replace it with the S2000 engine. That's actually the way the non-federalized Elise was offered in this country originally (from Sun Motorsports, I believe). But I don't think the Elise owners would be looking to steal an engine. If they're willing to buy a Lotus ... they're willing to spend money on the Honda engine. |

i've seen this motor dropped into a few cars.. even a freeking miata.....

the s2000 engine spins in the same direction as the elise and most other motors. Other non-K honda engines are odd in that they spin counterclockwise.
Now, if an elise owner wanted a F20c, they would need a transverse tranny to match it with. this can only be done with a custom bell housing. Putting a K20 into an elise is much easier than a F20c |

Putting a K20 into an elise is much easier than a F20c Elise 340R Elise Motorsport Elise (street legal) Only the street legal versions use the Celica GTR engine. The bell housing isn't the only limiting factor, as the splines wouldn't mate up from the transmission. Don't even get me started on the engine dimensions either. |
I've even seen an E30 Bimmer with S2k engine, complete with S2k dashboard ;)

^ I seen that BWM too.
Also a pickup, a few corollas, and some other cars (240sx i think). But no, its still too hard. |
If I pull it off good and cheap maybe your engines will be stolen by the toyota crowds soon....
