Winter Daily Driver
I'm considering an S2000 (don't know if new or used) as a daily driver to replace my '03 Accord Coupe 6 speed. My brother owned an '02 so I'm somewhat familiar with the car, but I'm concerned with the car during the winter. I live in Oklahoma, and we only have snow/ice/slush on the road for 7-10 days out of the year. Since this would be my daily driver (only car), do you think this would be wise? I guess that answer is obvious, but I really don't want to buy a winter beater for just a week out of the year, so I wanted to ask you guys if you think it's do-able.
Thanks for the feedback! |
No worries! there are a lot of people here that drive there S2ks year round.

- winter?? whats that? :thinker:
 |
I too live in Oklahoma (Edmond) --- and it really only has 7-10 days of snow/ice like he said.
I don't want to buy wheels and snow tires just for those days... so I think I'll just wait it out... no reason to spend that kinda money on tires that you don't use but 10 days out of a year. Probably take the bus to school and use my dad's Intrepid for when he isn't using it. |
I bought dedicated snow tires not only to get through snowy roads in the winter but also because the factory S-02s lose their grip in colder weather. Well worth it in my opinion.

I've driven in the snow with the RE050's on the MY 04 and they worked perfectly well. Just keep the speed down.

This will be my first winter also but I plan to buy new rears before the winter sets in. I live in WA state seattle area so yeh we get ice and sometimes a lil snow but just rain usually in the winter. I had my 300zxTT 450hp this past winter and she drove fine in cold condtiions icy but watch out for black ice. I won't drive any RWD in the snow though unless the roads are clear or there is just small amounts.
