Default Winter......wow

I just picked up an 04 Rio S.

As you know it snowed like crazy here in PA.

Well...i bought the car in Atlanta.

Drove it all the way up.

Got to my home town Sat. Night.....and got stuck in snow.

I have some questions, but before I ask them I need to give some advice.

DO NOT DRIVE WITH THE STOCK tires in the snow. Even at 5mph!!! No go man. Just don't do it. Ice sucks too, seriously. Just learn from my mistakes (as well as others), and don't even attempt it. Please.

My question:
Since the car is an AP2, can i buy oem AP1 stock wheels (or something similar) and mount an aggressive winter tire to it? What I mean will AP1s fit on the AP2?

Fun driving in the snow with the stock tires hey? I did it once when I was stranded 200 km from home in my S2000 (the funny thing is that I had just put my summer wheels on that day, thinking winter was done).

The car is actually really managable in the snow with the stock tires, but I think it's just because I drive mine in the winter with winter tires so I'm really used to how the car behaves.

Yes they will fit. It is a good, cost effective way to run snow tires.

The RE050s on the '04+ cars are better in the snow than the S02s on the '00-'03s, but are still pretty bad.

Man,
I spun my S out twice and crashed it once in the winter in chicago. my advice is get a winter car, cause not matter what tires you put on it, the s2000 is not a winter car.

yes ap1s fit ap2 so you can mount a winter set on used ones. or you can buy a/s high performance like pzero nero for light snow and cold temps.
stock summers are awful under 50deg

We got about 2 ft snow this weekend. I dug out the S on sunday and went out for some fun This morning I found my parking lot at work to be a huge sheet of ice.. fun fun

S2000 + Snow tires + snow = too much fun.

i think the error exists between the seat and steering wheel. I drive my car year round in wisconsin winters, with Nokian RSi's, and I dont have a SINGLE problem. Even my fiancee, who is newer to stick shift and RWD doesn't have troubles with those tires. to say the S2000 isn't a winter car, IMO, is exactly the opposite. I've never had more fun in winter with a car!!
