See ^^^^^^ straight from an (ex) owner's mouth. But hey the car is more than twice the sticker price so I would expect better workmanship.

AND

CKit, I only have the one car. Being limited to the S2K is kinda a pain at times. But hey that is what good friends with trucks are for....hehehe.

Yeah if you only own one car and it's an s2000, you must either have a lot of friends or you don't carry much...hahaha

I could not live with the s2k as my only ride for sure!

Thank god I have "choices" among my garage stable.....

The s2000 is not a normal car and most people who buy one love it for what it is and not status or anything else - however I must note that I get less attention in my m3 than my s2k at many places. I had a few guys come up to me and ask me "what kind of Lotus is that?" Funny thing is that my Spa wasn't even de-badged and clearly said "s2000" on the side! Maybe it was those Ricks2k badges.

I think the bay area is just flooded with m3's anyways!

I'm at a time in life (almost retired and children out of school) where I could have bought just about anything - in fact I looked at an 05 S type R Jag. I bought the S2000 because it is what I wanted/want.
BMWs or anything else wasn't what I wanted.

I was literally days away from buying an M3, and passed on it to get the S. I somewhat regret it, but I liek having more money to mod the S and fix up the house. If I'd gotten M I wouldn't have been able to afford anything for it for a while. Plus the cost on parts for the M is just stupid high. I do love the E46 M3, and highly doubt it will ever be topped.

surprised at how many of you are seduced with the brand/prestige. the car might or might not perform better, certainly not in handling. it's not as fun to drive. it's a ton less reliable and expensive to maintain. so you're essentially saying i'd trade for it because others will think im cooler or i'll feel better about myself since it costs more? am i wrong?
First four years you don't pay for a thing to maintain it other than tires. As for reliability, at least on the E46's, I heard of very few problems on them.

So, I don't want to say you're wrong, but I think you might have a stereotype engraved in your mind.

one is a $32k car new and one is a 50k+ car new.

Of course I would trade 32k for 50k+

I don't see how you can compare the two

No. I don't think Consumer Reports is nearly as unbiased as they try to appear.

I had an BMW M coupe and got the s2000. [I know, it's not an M3 but...] It had a great engine but in every other respect the s2000 is a more fun car to drive.
