Ap1 seats vs ap2 seats
Ok i realize this kind of topic has been beat to death but I could not find a good discussion comparing the two.
I have a MY2000; i am 6'4 ~190. After a 2 hour drive I always get lower back pain no matter the position I use. After going to the Chicago auto show last night i realized there are some much better seats; even the Miata had more comfortable seats. Anyway my question is: Are the seats in the ap2s any more comfortable and/or what are there downsides?

I think S2000 seats changed for 2006, and I haven't had enough time in a new seat to tell you if they are any more comfortable or not, but I would suggest you move the seat back a notch or two more vertical. When the seat is too reclined, you can unconsciously cause your lower back muscles to tighten while you drive, which leads to back pain.

I don't believe the difference between the seats to be added comfort.
I'm in agreement with Saki GT...play around with your seat's position. That is a cheaper fix for the results you need.
good luck.

2000-2005 are the same
2006-2008 is the change.
I prefer the older seats. The head rests aren't taller than the hoops and in my opinion the newer seats seem cheaper.
I've had CR seats, AP2v1 seats, and my original ap1 seats in my car.
Currently have ap2v1 seats.
Also keep in mind the newer seats use different rails for those of you wanting to swap stuff around. The driver side seatbelt receiver is different as well.

After sitting for 2 hours, any seat will give you some pain.
After a three hour trip in an Infiniti seat, my back felt great, even better than the large leather couch at home. And after an hour long trip in a TSX, I had a backache till next day. 2006 S2000 seat is somewhat in between. I start to get uncomfortable after about 3 hours...

I have AP1 seats. I'm 6'1"/260, and the only time I ever had comfort issues was the first time I ever sat in the car. Other than that, it's never given me any problems whatsoever.
