I'm getting a valve adjustment, just to be on the safe side... I got an eTune from Gernby a while back so I'm hoping that fixed the lean mixture issue... I'll ask the mechanic to document what he finds

So I have a 2006 S2K that I recently purchased. It is idling rough (no stalls) and I have been getting misfire codes on cylinders 1 and 3. I changed the spark plugs with no change. A few days ago swapped the coils from 1 and 3 to 2 and 4 and I also did a compression test. Cyl. 1 had an avg of 147, 2 was 225, 3 was 174 and 4 was 220. I cleared the codes and have got the misfire once since then on the same cylinders as before, so I know it is not the coils. I am figuring that the valves need to be adjusted but should I plan on replacing the valves as well? I have a feeling that the valves are burnt. Any info would be great, thanks in advance.

Just adjusted my valves a couple of days ago. Car was throwing random misfire code on cylinders 1 & 3 along with an infrequent rough idle. Found exhaust valves for cylinders 1 & 3 too tight. Car now idles much better and the codes have not come back. Unfortunately, I believe the damage was done and I have some burnt valves in those two cylinders.

I'm going to try and get in tomorrow. My 06 bogs low under 2k no codes however. I drive hard but it's bogged since I bought it even after new plugs. However with a test pipe it's less pronounced I suspect it may be A/F ratios on dbw cars. So after valves compression and leak down I'll be doing flash pro and gernby tune

Because of this post I was able to work up enough courage to do my own valve adjustment. all the of exhaust side was too tight. there was only one valve out of spec on the intake side and that was the one closest to the firewall. MY2007 @ 32k miles.

I think we will find the percentage is near 75 percent or better, look at the response in this thread.

All 06-09 cars should be checked asap.

Should I get it checked now at 13k miles or wait until I hit 15k (which prob won't be for a couple months lol)

It doesn't hurt to check it now and have it adjusted if needed.

Same here.
2006 with ~88.xxx miles.
I took the car to the Rockstar Garage, and while adjusting valves I was told that exhaust valves were tight.
It was not that bad, but still they were tighter than they should be.

I really can't tell the difference before/after, since adjustment was not because of a problem but for maintenance.
The car seems to run slightly smoother somehow, but that might be my brain tricking me since I know that car is serviced regularly and properly.

Anyways, I am glad that I have did it before it caused any problems.
