Default 2001 Honda S2K noise from rear

Hey everyone, I’m currently sitting around with my buddy waiting on a tow truck. His car all of a sudden started to make a bunch of noise coming from his rear end. My first thought was possibly differential or cv axle, but you think it could possibly be a hub assembly issue? There are about 60k miles on the car. I also noted that when he went to roll in reverse to replicate the noise, that it stopped as if the brakes were engaged and then rolled forward on its own. We’re gonna get it towed to the house and check it out, but wanted to know what you guys thought first. Thanks everyone!

did you ever do the axle nut tsb? If not, you'll probably need a new hub assembly (if you didn't break the rear end by launching it).

Stationary the only noise would be diff or prop shaft.
