4.57 gear and Comptech diff setup?

I am thinking of going with the 4.57 gears but have read lots of threads that discuss the importance of the installer

check out http://www.hardtopguy.com You may need to e-mail Hardtopguy, but he can set you up.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea of what a shop, or Honda dealer would charge me to install the completed diff if I bought one assembled from hardtopguy?

No, I am afraid I don't. If I were to do it, I would either do it myself, or drive to Ohio and have Hardtopguy install it all at once for me.

The best advice I can offer is to make some friends in your local S2000 regional forum. I am willing to bet that someone there would be more than happy to help you out. At the very least you should be able to get some reccomendations on shops that can do the work in your area.

I can't imagine I would be willing to pay more than $200 for a diff uninstall/reinstall. YMMV.

Thanks, I will look into it.

www.ricks2k.com offers the diff pumpkin swap. look into that, as you get a diff with the gears already installed, and just send them your entire old diff.

also, don't just take this to a honda dealer and expect them to know what they're doing. to be honest, honda dealerships dont even do gear installs (with the exception of HTG)

Does that worry anybody else? I like the simplicity of that but unless these are brand new (I doubt it) I might order a preinstalled diff with 60,000 miles of wear and who knows what kind of treatment (driving style and oil changes) on it and have to send in mine with 25,000 miles of wear that has never been raced and had two oil changes so far.

It is a good option for some but I would take mine to a local shop.

You see the silver part on the top? That's the bearing caps, studs, etc, that comptech replaces the stock caps with that reinforce the diff. those parts cannot be put onto your diff because they are machined with threads that must match up.

I just got back from MSR after installing the complete built diff from Ricks. Worked great. Have about 700 miles on it now--my mechanic was real happy just to swap out the difs.
