You're shifting without using the clutch?! Why?

There is no difference in using the clutch vs shifting at the right time when letting off the throttle w/ no clutch. They both accomplish the same task...removing load on the trans gears.

Except the clutch makes sure there is no load. Trying to move the lever when there is no load is not something most short of long term over the road truckers can do virtually every time.

Change your clutch fluid more often.

Use the clutch. Save the ego no clutch shifts for when the clutch goes out and driving to the clutch shop.

okay, lemme make this a little more clear....

yeah, i could drive the car all day without the clutch no problem... i dont.

when i use the clutch to shift from 4th to 5th, it grinds...
when i do not use the clutch to shift from 4th to 5th, it is very smooth...

**brand new clutch fluid its been doing this since i bought it

This thread (yours) seemed to deny this assertion You're saying that the only time it grinds is when you use the clutch. Sounds like the clutch ain't disengaging or the syncros are buggered from not using the clutch. Maybe before your ownership.

You willing to drop the gear box and look inside? I'd at least flush it and see what comes out. Aftermarket clutch complicates things. Older cars had different synchros. Hard to tell without looking. Re greased the shifter and put the lever back oriented the right way?
