Default Accelerator pedal position sensor replacement

Hey guys, I recently noticed some bogging, hesitation or jerking or whatever you want to call it while feathering the throttle at cruising speed on a DBW system. The very next day my wife got a P2138 CEL which let me to the APP sensor assembly. I received a new one today and my dash lit up like a Christmas tree with the VSA light and the triangle and of course the CEL after installing the new assembly.

I just want to know if there is a calibration procedure for this assembly or if it is plug and play? My Honda mechanic says it's plug and play but want to cover the bases.

Thanks.

Should be plug and play but you do need to reset the ecu. Disco the battery a few min or pull the reset fuse.

Thanks for the suggestion and I even shorted the two terminals together this time to fully drain everything, still the same result with the VSA, triangle and CEL and no throttle response when the pedal is pressed. I may just have a bad sensor assembly?

The old one is back in and I have no VSA, CEL or triangle. I did have to clear the CEL and the car still has a hesitation when feathering the throttle while maintaining speed but can be driven, CEL has not returned as of yet but I want to fix the issue. Thanks.

I really need to know if there is an adjustment/calibration procedure as the seller is claiming this needs to be done, I cannot find any evidence that it is not just plug and play.

The only tps calibration on most cars is to loosen the mounting screws and rotate it to the position where it reads .5v with throttle closed, and 4.5v at wot. Then tighten screws.

See this article:

Thanks for the info but this is the APPS and not the TPS, with all the threads I have read and videos I have watched not one has mentioned adjusting anything except for taking up the slack in the throttle cable.

*UPDATE*

I received a warranty replacement APPS yesterday and it was completely plug and play, no issues or dash lights and the throttle is perfectly smooth. Not fun getting defective parts new in the box.

I'm having the same issue. Have an OEM APPS ordered... PM'd you on if there are any DIY's for actually replacing it. I'm sure it's very easy.

It's super easy. Remove the cover (2 10mm bolts), disconnect the harness/"throttle" cable from the sensor assembly, swap in the replacement and re-attach everything. Make sure you set the cable back the way it was (or adjust to your liking). I recommend doing an idle relearn procedure afterwards too.
