act pressure plate hurting throwout bearing?
my mechanic said my aftermarket act pp damaged my throwout bearing somehow. does that even make sense?

Using a stronger pp you should:
1 - stop starting the engine with the clutch in, cold or warm, disable the switch if you have to.
2 - stop waiting in gear + clutch in at traffic lights etc.
3 - keep the slave push rod lubed and polished.
This is to reduce wear on the crank thrust washer and the throwout, apart from #3, that's better for your knees.
The thrust washer is.. kinda more important though....
