Default Aftermarket Timing Chain Tensioner

So I came across something interesting. Skunk2 offers a aftermarket TCT for the K-Series motors. It seems to be the fix for the K series guys that are worried about their OEM TCT. Is there a company out there that makes aftermarket TCTs for the S2K? I mean I see atleast 2 threads a week about the " a noise under my hood" and everyone points to the TCT. Why hasn't anyone gone to the next step? Are there any vendors that we (S2Ki community) have contact with that would be will to take on a project like this? I mean I would fork up $200-250 bucks for a aftermarket TCT if it was better than the OEM. The only reason I say this is because I see guys that replace it, and their happy for a few months and the noise is back. Obviously there is a problem. So clue me in guys, maybe I'm just talking to talk.

This is the link for the K series TCT

The K tensioners are completely different. They are a ratching pawl setup, not a worm gear.

You can take your tensioner apart, have the worm gear bead blasted and not have another problem.

You won't be putting a K series tensioner on it.

On which fact? I think there should be a permanent fix to the worm gear. I think we all should see if there is a company or vendor that is willing to make a worm gear that just fixes the problem permanently w/o having to sandblast and all that. I mean say Skunk2 for example makes just the worm gear for $30 bucks than I would just buy it ans swap it out. I hate down time when it comes to my car since its my DD.

Billman sells them for just over $100 already modd'd and ready to install. Problem solved. End of thread.

Its NOT the worm gear thats the issue. It's the entire design of the tensioner itself.

It is a design flaw, plain and simple.

If you look at any TCT wear pattern, the contact pattern is only 25 to 50%

Anyone who has worked with the TCT enough knows what i am talking about.

I'll give you a shout. Is the # still the same?

I've been glass bead blasting them here with good results.
